Ask HN: When will ChatGPT Voice be able to control my phone?

I am using ChatGPT voice on my phone and it's great. It even understands greek (my language).

But it's jailed inside the phone. Why? Why can't it control my phone? Is it technical? I don't think so.

Is it security? I'll be happy to give OpenAI the keys to my phone if I had this feature.

Can somebodhy explain to me why this isn't implemented yet?

If people from OpenAI are reading this, implement it now and get my money!!!

It would be possible if ChatGPT eventually became an "Accessibility app" on Android. I've already built something similar that analyzes my Android screen and makes basic if/else decisions.

Of course, if you add an AI layer on top of that, the token usage would be enormous. So I don't think it's happening anytime soon unless OpenAI is willing to lose even more money than it already does today.

They’re in the process of building their own hardware.

Because right now it's a privacy and security nightmare.

GPT is a usual application inside the operating system - it doesn't have access to private or system data. You will be able to control your phone only when phone vendors add GPT to their operating systems, I bet it will happen soon

My guess? Almost no-one is happy to give their phone keys to notoriously unreliable chatbots.
